1967 4spd Tranny, Can you drop the rear extension cone

from the bottom, or does the entire drive train need to be pulled? 40 years ago 
when my 67 was garaged the only real mechanical issue was that there was a small chunk of the rear cone casting missing at the rear seal resulting in a small leak. I suspect my Sister ran something over as she owned the car from 1974 to 1979. Possibly only a damaged rear seal would need to be replaced and not the cone as well, wishful thinking most likely. Anyway probably a mute point if the engine is irreversibly frozen from the sitting.
