Datsun Roadster Paint FORMULA

First, as noted not the code. My car is being painted and the formula for 605 ivory white could not be found even with the PPG code by the paint supplier. So I had to go through the paint books and pick a white I thought was the closest or for the most part what I will be happy with. White is definitely not just white.

So when it comes time to paint the other car 563 sora blue I need to find the formula or maybe get Steve to take his car over for a paint scan if It can't be found.

Does anyone here have any of the old records for the formula with proportions of the mix colors?

I remember a color called Wimbleton White that was an ivory white used on a previous car that was supposed to be the same as stock. No other info on it though.

Go to your local Nissan Dealership and ask them if they can look up the formula in the system
That’s what I did for 531 and 665 I then had them do samples

In 1978, MAACO had a perfect 665 in one-stage urethane. For $750 it couldn’t be beat, and looked great, until by 1983 it began to shed in huge sheets, like a reptile. Paint prep is your friend. Don’t skimp on it.

The paints after ? 91 or 2 are chemical reaction unless your talking laqeur enamel
I painted my blue car they added grey and burgundy to the base....almost couldn't believe it came out metallic deep blue ....if you added a bit more of either it turns brown a new color has to be constructed at the company

I got it. Naturally I called and 502 Ivory white did not come up but of course the silver did. So he suggested I cal Axalta, formerly Dupont and the really nice lady found it for me.

Axalta, formerly Dupont, was trying to sell to PPG, but got squashed by Covid:
