Champion radiator question

I am in the market for a new Champion radiator but am a bit confused as to which one to buy. I have a 67.5 with a RB steering box which is larger than the normal 67.5 box. I looked at the two roadster radiators they list & the one they list for 69 & earlier is 1/4" narrower than the one they list for 70 cars. This seems backwards to me.
I contacted Champion & their response was that they didn't know, that they just sell what they they are told the radiators fit. Seems a bit odd. Has anyone used the Champion radiators in a 70?
Peace,
Pat

Why not use the stock tanks and get a three row radiator built? Price will most likely be comparable to aftermarket but fitment will be correct.

I checked into that about 10 years ago & it was much higher, at least in central Texas. I’ll check again.

Based upon experience, NOT a drop in fit for later cars.

Thanks, Linda. I looked at it but it didn't indicate what the radiator dimensions were. It seems to say they had only one radiator for the roadster. Thanks though.
Peace,
Pat

I have a Champion in my 1600, early steering box. The aluminum flat pieces allow some adjustment to be done. I don’t recall that it was any big deal.
There are a lot installed so it does fit with a little bit of work, and it is worth it for the cooling , plus they are light. IMHO.
There is a 1600 and a 2000 Champion radiator I believe

I had Champion make the 1600 radiator more than 12 years ago. It was made for an early car but will fit the later 1600's with just a little bit of adjustments. I have one in my 67 1600 race car with a recirculating box and it fits with no interference with the steering box.

Are the 68-70, 1600 and 2000 radiator the same size and fitment?

If you are referring to what came originally on the car, the part numbers are different between the 1600 and 2000 radiators. So there is some kind of difference.

If you look at carpartsmanual.com you can see the radiator differences though they are mislabelled - but the 65-69 shows the 1600 radiator and the 69-70 shows the 2000. Main difference is in the location of the filler cap - on the 1600 it is part of the thermostat tower, whereas on the 2000 it is part of the radiator.
