Another 1600 Weber Question

I've seen several pictures of Webers on the R16 where the owner looped the coolant hose from the head to the water pump, and others that blocked off the fittings at both locations instead. Assuming I'm not going to run my heater, is one way preferable over the other? Thanks.

Why would you not want to run a heater?

I wouldn't mind having heat (though the car hibernates all winter), but it's just a much cleaner look without running the two hoses to the firewall. I think I've seen about a dozen pictures of Webers on a 1600 and only one of them had heater hoses.

You could run pipes under the intake - copy the SU design and mount them to the heat shield. You are going to put on a heat shield, right?

I have individual heat shields mounted to the bottom of each carb.

You'll definitely want a heat shield under the Webers and I run my heater hoses under it. I had percolating fuel in the float bowls before I made up an aluminum shield to protect the bowls. Look for my Wiki post.
