Post by SP3 »

Seeking confirmation if this valve cover is the same size as an R16?

Yes, but there are some considerations. The 1500 valve covers are typically not vented which means that you need the vented oil cap and road draft tube.

Or the oil cap riser with the port for the hose to the air filter.

So with the VC pictured, also I am not running an OEM air filter assembly, would I just run a hose from the oil filler cap to ground?

Any reduction in system efficiency/performance from vented cover setup? Motor has compression increase.

Does it matter if you orient valve cover so oil filler cap is at front of engine or near firewall?

Preference is the latter.

The valve cover is not square iirc.

Sid not following. When you say not square, what do you mean? Holes for the studs in VC that the securing nuts screw on to are not equal i.e. it only goes on one way? “D” for Datsun towards radiator?

The valve valve cover isn't symmetric. It only fits on the head one way.

Non-symmetric is what I meant by not square. Working too much and not as eloquent as I could have been.
