Windshield rod in middle?

Post by Egz »

I've always wondered, what cars had a bar in the middle of the windshield? I thought it was a low windshield thing, but my low windshield doesn't have one. Was it just based on year? Thanks

Your 1967 certainly should have had the bar. Do you have centered threaded holes at the top and bottom of
your windshield frame?

There is a threaded hole in the top center of the windshield frame, but on the backside. I don't see anything at the bottom. Maybe once I get the dashpad off it will become visible. Is there a good picture of that part by itself?

Backside?, I guessing you mean on the inside the cockpit side of the frame which would be correct. Some photos of 66/67 cars can look a bit deceptive and the rod can look like it is mounted on outside of the windshield. Your rod is missing unfortunately.

Someone on here I believe had some stainless reproductions made. I got one and wish I had bought two. I also wish they would make some more.
66 stroker, almost done.
67 basket case, paint coming soon.

I believe from searching old threads that it may have been "gmagana" It appears to be a no longer active account.
