Of headlights and handbrakes

Sounds like a great book title.

2 questions (1967 1600, low windshield):
1. Is there any trick to removing the headlight buckets from the fenders? I removed the 3 retaining ring screws (well, drilled one out), removed the headlight, removed the 4 phillips screws (well, 2 snapped off). I loosened the adjustment ring and removed that. Do those 2 large adjuster screws need to come out too? Because the bucket is still holding tight.

2. Does the pin at the pivot under the car that holds the hand brake cable remove? I removed the cotter pin, but that large pin does not want to slide out. I just don't want to put too much force only to find out that it was wrong. Or to remove the handbrake, should I just remove that castle nut on the handbrake itself and take it apart in the car?

Thanks!

there are rubber 'gaskets' inside the fender - perhaps that is where the headlights are stuck!

more of a large rubber ring between headlight bucket and body - unfortunately not shown in carpartsmanual.com and you do NOT have to remove the 'alignment' screws.

Okay, it was that rubber seal. I just didn't want to push too hard. Thanks!

Any hints to that hand brake junction under the car? The pin should push out, right?

Yup, number 3 in the first pic. Looks like it comes out, so I guess its stuck. Probably easier to remove the whole assembly and work on the bench. Thanks!
