Driving, not fog, lights
Hey guys I am looking for some round all chrome driving lights for my roadster. I have seen the ones from the hot rod shop, but those are fog not driving. I don’t want to go LED as I am trying to keep my car period correct, even though I have converted headlights to halogens. Would like 55 watt bulbs, but would consider 100’s. I don’t think 35’s would be any better that what I have. If anyone has the hot rod shop or equivalent fog’s are they any better than halogen headlight bulbs. I have searched the internet, but can’t find what I am looking for. Any ideas?
TIA. Mike

Try Demon Tweeks in the UK. Maybe the piaa or kc hilites will work.

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
Thanks Curtis, but no luck. The Piaa and Hella both don’t have chrome backs. Nothing from KC floats my boat. Thought I had something with the Ring, but they are either too big or too small,
Anyone else?

Wipac driving lights or Lucas driving lights. Search them on Google.

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
Well, you guys are certainly better at searching the internet than I. First, I would like them to work, so Lucas is a no go it looks like the Wipac and the one’s from eagle eye may be the same except for the bulbs, 55 vs 100 watt.
Going back and forth on which bulb to get. The 55’s would draw less attention from oncoming cars, but just the fact that there are two extra lights on will cause many to flash their lights anyway. Where I really need the bright lights is near my rural home where deer are a constant problem and traffic is practically nonexistent. Decisions decisions.
Thanks for the tips!

check with Moss Motors - period stuff for TR and MG - might find something there. And IMHO nothing wrong with rectangular CIBIE

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
I've been looking at the fog light below. It is available in Amber and Clear. I like LED lights because they don't overload my lighting circuit on my 68. My hesitation is if I can get a LED to fit this fog light.

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
I think I am leaning towards the eagle eye’s. The VW’s that DLR25 mentioned are fog lights. Even though they are available with the clear lens, the fluting still widely disperses the light since it’s a fog and not a driving lens. Also 4†just looks too small to my eye.
Thanks all for the help.
Keep it coming!

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
bikermike, how do the eagle eye’s perform? Do they cast a significantly better beam then the sealed beams. Are you able to use them on the hi-way in light traffic or does every oncoming car flash their lights at you. Do they stay adjusted.
Thanks, Mike
Thanks, Mike

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
I have them aimed to fill the center of the lane with light. They are brighter and more focused than the Wagner H6024BL sealed beams I am using.
They haven’t moved since I installed them. I could point them farther down the road, but I didn’t want to risk contact with the hood when opened.
I usually only use them on the open road and am pretty good about turning them off when encountering oncoming traffic. I’ll snap a few pics one night.

Re: Driving, not fog, lights
I haven’t had the car outside for a while for a pic of the beam pattern. In the meantime, here is a pic of the lens on the Eagle Eyes.
There is vertical fluting in the center of the lens. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.
