Electrical wire runs

Hello all

I getting reading to start the building of my wiring harness and am curious about where to run my wiring, specifically to the rear. I do not want to run any wires under the car rather instead run all the wiring in the car. Just wondering if there are any secret runs to the rear anyone has discovered.

Thanks

Matthew

You could do it by using a 16g flat cable and running it under the carpet then under the rear vinyl side panel and through the quarter panel. Other option is to cut a slot at the bottom of back shelf. You would also have to change your dash harness.

Personally I wouldn't bother with it as the stock location along the frame works well and it lasts for decades. Unless you climb under the car you can't see it. Instead of tape I've thought about running it the entire length in the high grade heat resistant vinyl tubing I get from Cycle Terminal.

Does anybody sell harnesses? Or work on old harness?

I'll get back to you later today after my knee surgery therapy.

:D Thanks for the response Curtis :D

I am going to be doing a 100% new custom harness so at this point changing things is no big deal. The routing is my curiosity. I'm sure that running it under the car would be fine but I just don't wanna. I remember seeing somewhere on the forum some time back a sneaky route in the panel under the door but couldn't find it when I searched. If nothing else Im going to run my harnesses between the seat rail and the door jamb under the carpet.

One last aside; for those that mount their batteries in the rear....did you put a fuse or a circut breaker on the wire that runs from the battery to the starter? What size fuse/circut breaker?

Cheers

Matthew

There is an electrical cable called FCC cable that will work. I haven't looked to see how many conductors are available. It is intended for use under carpet wiring. (120V)
