Thoughts on this Keyster SU Kit?

Post by DAC21 »

https://www.ebay.com/itm/371834255309

Is this a decent quality kit? I'm seeing Float seat valve and needle, idle springs, Float bowl gaskets and many other gaskets that I can't identify yet. ALSO four metering needles but the discription makes no mention of them although a supposed legit review mentions the needles were included . Thoughts?. I'm fine spending $50 and supplementing other parts to see if I can get some 41 year old garaged 1600 SU's up in running before a worst case $800+ ztherepy bill (after tax and shipping)

Thanks

The kit is okay. However, the float valves are for the 1500/1600, not the 2000. The kit does come with two sets of needles. The more narrow ones for the 1500/1600 and the wider ones the 2000. The float bowl gaskets are paper and after opening the float bowls up once or twice, they will need to be replaced.

Thanks for the feedback. It is marketed for the 1600 / 2000 so that is deceptive in regards to the valves, but if they are for the 1600 that is what I would need. Supposedly contents are made in Japan. Seeing what some are charging just for the Float valves it seems a good value. Does anyone know if the Float valves bolt right up with no modifications?

The valves may fit some of the late 2000s iirc.

I used the kit, didn't know about the different sized needles, ended up using the original needles. I still have the kit, so I can go back and replace the needles if need be, but the car is running really good right now. The kit worked well for my 1600.

Those float chamber needle and seats will work for all 1600's and the 2000 carbs that have the free floating floats.
Did anyone look at all of the pictures at this Ebay post? In 31 years I've never seen any girls in any parts department that look like that.

Uhhh nooooo, didn't see those girls at all  Feeding them right up there in Canada. Cracked me up as some photos show the girls scanning inventory, yet there is no UPC on the panel of the box they are scanning. BTW the kit can be ordered directly from the company (S.C.I. - siriusconinc) it only saves you about $3 versus eBay as shipping from Canada is $14. BUT I had the Kit in the cart at check out and no tax for shipping to California if bought directly. So $46.13 OTD. a total savings of a little under $7 over eBay, every little bit helps.

I bought that kit last summer and ended up replacing the needles with ADQ's from a member on here, and also the float bowl gaskets from a vendor. If I was to do it all over again looking back at the issues I've had over the last year with the carbs alone, I would have coughed up the money in the first place and sent the carbs to one of our esteemed members to rebuild in the first place. I've spend the same amount financially, but wasted way more time and had significant frustration.

As far as those girls scanning, they're REAL!! I talked to one by email and she said she thinks I'm cute...

Problem is the rebuild vendors like Z Therapy , are backed up. So if you want better running carbs, though you might have other carb issues the kit does not address, the kit is better than nothing for the time being. Also, cutting your own gaskets is easy, especially with the kit gaskets as template.
Don’t forget the floats, which can leak a little or alot.

After researching it a bit I think that kit is worth it alone for the 2x Float valve/seats based on what I'm seeing to buy them separately. I don't give a Rats rear end if they aren't Nissan. The various gaskets add up, you will be nickle and dimed to death buying them separately. Probably $30 or more + shipping.

Dean,

I noticed on the bottom your 2020 hours of operation schedule that Will Call is not allowed. These cars are expensive enough to resto / keep on the road. Living in the L.A. area it's a bit of a hard pill to swallow that if I wanted to purchase, as an example, these ZTherapy Carbs that between shipping and sending back the Core I'd be dropping another $60, $70..... ??? on shipping. Any thoughts come next year of having possibly one day a month open for Will Call? Seems that would be advantages to you as well for people showing up with Core exchanges and you can give them a real time yea or nay on the condition. I'd be willing to even pay a reasonable amount $ for Will Call service. It seems like a good opportunity to put a Senior to work for a little extra income to man the position. Just a thought.

At the present time I have to decline will calls. Its never about the money. I would love to resume will calls, but I can't. Z therapy would require you to return the cores, more freight cost involved and charge more for out going freight as they are in a different state. You can always send photos of your carbs, different views, so we can approve prior to the purchase. sales@datsunparts.com
