Tranny mounts
Anybody wanna buy my car? j/k...sorta, how much is a tranny mount? Yall think autozone or advance will have it? Everything happens to break at the end of my driveway or on the other side of my neighbor hood.... so it is just far enough were i have to ghetto rig it or get the lawn mower to tow it(sometimes my bros S10)
Forgot to ask... whats the best way to replace?

Dave did figure out one that will work. It is a urethane unit, so it is permanent. The correct piece will cost $75 - $100 from the vendors iirc, but Dave's solution costs $25 and is in stock at pep boys. Here is a pic in the photo album that should explain a lot:

It looks like Dave had to drill a couple of holes to bolt the new mount on.
Oh, the crossmembers are different as you will notice. The tall one is the 4 speed unit and the short one is the 5 speed unit. Disregard that difference and focus on the mounts. I am sure that Dave will impart his wisdom here...

Just haul it down here and drop it off.
I know that you are more of a chevy guy, but a Ford small block fits a little better...

YES, chevy!!! I swear we could build bout 5 chevy motors with the parts laying around, but my bro has a 72 mustang sitting at my grandfathers house with a 302 with only 1000 miles on a rebuild (but about 3 years)
I have 3 friends trying to sell me cars right now- 88 RX7 conv, 88 prelude Si 4WS, and another RX7 but hardtop.... its very tempting
Lol, i guess Ill put my roadster in my back pocket and sit on it for a while!

The trans mount works great. Just drill 2 holes nd you're in.
If you want to be more creative, make a bottom bracket that matches the bottom of the old trans mount, bolt it to the new trand mount with locktite and just make 2 bigger holes in the crossmember for the bolt heads. Of course I thought of this after mine was done the hard way. Very little room in the 5 speed crossmember to tighten the bolts, so new method above may be better. Evan has my phone #.

I looked through the shifter hole today... it ripped out 3/4 hardened grade 8 drive shaft bolts, and the fourth one was about 4 threads away from coming apart. My uncle has an old marquis(sp?) with a 5.0 he is trying to sell but the tranny is goin out so he might not be able to sell it... think i should try to get the motor from him??

muscle car =high insurance
roadster =low insurance
roadster w/u20 =18s in the 1/4 (thats an estimate, Will said his ran a 17 w/solexs and a cam right?)
roadster w/5.0 = at least a 14 if not 13.... thats w/some suspension stuff though)
Its amazing how hard it is for some of yall to agree with someones idea, not discourage a person, or cut someone down.... it almost makes me wanna go register at a honda forum, i mean, i have never seen them do all that

Dont get me wrong but I like swaps. But when you have a car that runs why yank the life out of it? Alvin ran 14's? in his sr20 roadster. It would make more sense to yank a engine if it was tired, or it threw a rod etc. But when its running I dont see the point. Throw a rod in your U20 the think about a swap.
