Plug to starter question

Post by The Neck »

Hi everyone,

I found a pigtail going to the starter in my 67.5 that needs to be replaced. I have the pigtail off the starter and am having a hell of a time finding the plug. Do any of you fine people have one laying around I can buy? Or even know of a place where I can get such a minimal order? I have a pic of it below.

Follow up question, I only have two wires going to it, and it looks like there was three at one point. This car is RIDDLED with all sorts of weird stuff like this, and missing or wrong parts. The one missing would be going to the ammeter, but the ammeter and fuel gauge are working just fine. I'm "assuming" this is ok? If so I might just replace with a two pin connector and be done with it.

Its not exact, but Vintage Connections "6.3mm 3-pin Non-Latching M/F Nylon Connector" should work

3 prong connection

I suggest you also buy Ratcheting Crimping Tool

Or you could get a beautifully built RePop better than new from CURTIS

These connectors are sold on Ebay also, coming from China so they take a while.
Vintage Connections are the best and correct, in my opinion.
I use a locking connector on that particular one to ensure it doesn’t get loose.
You are likely to need more so good to get an assortment

I ended up getting the one off there for a few bucks. As I go through the car more, I'm finding all sorts of fun projects. I'm just trying to get it to run without vapor locking, and getting these little nuisances fixed in the meantime.

Well, I have to chuckle, and I figured I'd share due to the hilarity. I was retracing a couple of the wires, and something just didn't seem right. Turns out, the PO used about a 3 foot piece of green solid ground copper wire from internal residential wiring to connect a couple ends together. So that's been cut out and replaced with proper auto wire.

Yeah, I am thinking you are going to need more connectors, terminals, wiring and definitely some inline fuses to keep the smoke down...
