Correct speedometer cable length for a 1968 SRL311 with 5-speed?

I see from 66 to 81 inches.

Anyone ever see the speedo cable snap just inside the aluminum-sleeved speedometer end, leaving the drive key inside the speedo?

(FWIW, went with an 80 inch cable, to try to avoid kinks.)

Good thought. Thanks. My needle tweezers aren't strong enough to grip and pull.
