Turn signal gremlin

Random electrical gremlin. The right turn signal On my ‘68 has stopped working. Left turn signal works fine. Right still works if the Emergency flasher is activated. Referring to the wiki pages looks like it is probably something to do with the Green/black striped wire which runs the right side. Tested the signal stalk and it is working. Checked at the rear harness connection in the engine bay- no signal. So it appears to be in the dash/drivers side well. My suspicion is actually the indicator lamp in the tach dial. Before I completely contort myself to get up in there, has anyone run into something like this and what was the solution?

Could be a bad connection at your HAZARD switch since it has both LH and RH circuits going through it.

Yep, check the hazard switch!

So even though the hazard switch works it could still be causing the issue?

Dash bulb is just spliced on to the turn circuit, outside lights will work without it. If the right dash light works with the hazards then it is not burned out, single filament. I'm not clear on whether the outside turn lights work and just the dash is not flashing for right signal.

The turn signal wire has a splice just before the firewall sending it to the engine harness plug and to the rear. The hazard switches can get dirty inside or the plug terminals for it or anywhere on the car can get dirty/corroded and not work. See the drawing in the attached link and it may help you track it down.

Curtis, thanks I was working off of that diagram, very helpful. Sorry if I wasn’t clear. Right And left front and rear turn signals work from the hazard switch. But the right front and rear turn signals don’t work from the Turn signal stalk. Left front and rear work from the stalk. Checked the turn signal stalk and it is working for both sides. Looked at the splice for the front/rear harnesses and it looks ok. Good thing there’s a 3-day weekend coming up for chasing gremlins.

Not sure anyone’s been on the edge of their seat waiting for an update, but here goes. Traced the turn signal wiring and connections - nada. Pulled the center console and checked the hazard switch - nada. Tore down the steering column and cleaned the signal switch - nada. My good friend and roadster master mechanic Gary stops by. He bangs on the switch a couple times with the handle of a screwdriver- fixed! Ahh roadster life. Let me know if this needs to be posted on the tech wiki page 😄

A ohms meter test & volts drop test can tell you where to focus ,for next time

Perhaps spray the switch mechanism and contacts with a good quality contact cleaner.
It will probably come out black from the decades of grime stored in there
