Had the fever for a while, now I got the Roadster too!!!

Post by jhdj250 »

I have been after an Uncle of mine to get his SPL-311 on the road since I met him in 1988. (He's my wife's uncle) He has had it in his garage for about 20 years.

Well, he finally agreed to let me have it. I am now the proud owner of SPL-311-09162.

Pictures will be forthcoming.

That's great. Welcome.
There is a ton of good information on the main site here and in all kinds of past posts. Also, ask questions--there is a guy named Sid here who knows everything about the roadster, in fact he may be part roadster himself. J/K. But seriously there are a lot of very knowledgeable owners here that are very willing to answer any and all questions.

DON'T BELIEVE IT!! THAT SID GUY WILL LEAD YOU ASTRAY!! HE WILL TELL YOU ALL KINDS OF GOOFY THINGS.

Some just happen to be true!

Glad to hear that you got a cool car! The 66 has the best dash of ALL of the roadsters in my (not too humble) opinion. That chrome is just SWEET!!

I want a low windshield roadster, for that matter a 67 2000.... sorta like Alvins, the interiors are SOOO cool.... but my 69 looks sorta like a Z car dash, hmmmm.

Evan,

You HAD to go and do it, didn't you. Now we are going to have to get Willy Wonka's berry squeezer to squeeze Alvin's head back down to size. ...

Nice! Do you have the door panels? If not, vendors have them available in red. The gauges look near perfect from what I can tell, the tach does not even look faded!! That is a score! You NEED to take that car to Road Atlanta for the Walter Mitty Historics! Join SEROC while you are at it. The dues are outrageous, but they have never missed a publication date for the newsletter. LOL!!!

BTW, paint the area behind the grill black. Your car has been repainted since it is now white (they were painted black behind the grill from the factory) It will make the chrome look even nicer!

Well here are a few more. From the side and the soft top. He has all the door panels with original vinyl in the trunk. Has factory replacement handles for the inside (door and window).

The only thing I can see wrong with the guages is a little bit of corrosion on the chrome rings.

I knew the car had been repainted but didn't know about the black behind the grille. Thanks Sid.
