:smt006 I just picked up a 66 datsun 1600. I am glad there is a forum with such deep knowledge of these little roadsters. Glad to be here and will try and post updates of the rebuild.

Hector, buying a roadster in the Bakersfield area deprives you of half of the fun of reconstruction, namely rust repair. Literally hundreds of hours cutting out rusted areas, making cardboard patterns of what you need for a replacement, transferring the pattern to steel, cutting it out, butt welding it in place one 1/8 inch dot at a time, grinding it down flat, putting a light behind to check for holes, re-welding holes, grinding again, and then you start the filling process which is even more time consuming. If you don't want to miss out on this highly valued part of roadster ownership I could send you a fender or two or rocker panels from a true New England driven roadster.

Yikes! That's the main reason I bought this little project. The body is pretty much done. There's still a couple holes from patch work but not extensive. So far it's the right rear fender well that needs to be shored up. Super stoked on starting this project! Maybe start small and drop the fuel tank. And clean it out.
