Project 67.5 1600 just acquired (Australia)

Hi All

My first post here. I am sure I will be visiting often, with endless questions and requests ...

I have just taken delivery of an incomplete project comprising a 67.5 1600 shell (SP311 car # 02013) it has a lightly damaged chassis and many parts missing - notably: interior and trim pieces. Also, the original R16 and g'box are gone.

In the deal I have several doors, including an NOS left door shell! I also scored 2 additional chassis', one appears to be a rolling earlier model, as it has 4 wheel drum brakes. There are also a couple of 'cuts' (1 x front and 1 x RHD right side firewall section) There is a dash panel (unsure of model) complete with all gauges but in very tired condition :(

At this stage, I am trying to get up to speed with the task of identifying exactly what I have and what model the bits came from ...

I have worked on Datsuns for 40 years and currently have 5 others: 2 x 510, 2 x 520 and a 260Z 2+2. Very little of the Roadster mechanicals are familiar to me, as mostly I've worked on cars with L series engines, strut fronts and IRS etc

I am actually quite excited about the prospect of building 'something' from "car 13", as I have now named it (13th RHD 67.5 1600 - as I make it)

The shell is in very good shape! There has been some typical attempts at panel repair but its pretty minor and I am yet to find any evidence of rust, other than the underside of one front rail. I am sure that will change once the shell is stripped ...

I have not locked on a build direction, at this stage, but am leaning toward a retro race car theme. The sheer volume of missing parts would sink the project financially should I try to restore it.

I'm looking forward to seeing others cars and learning about the Roadsters (and working out how to share images ...)

Take care, everybody!

Thanks Steve. I will look into it when I get to a point where I have something worth posting.
