67.5 SR311

Post by Jweaver »

Finally,
Looks like I will finally be getting my 67.5 SR311 #518 back on the road after 40 years. I purchased the car in 1979 when I was 15. It was my first of may cars and some how hung on to it. It's been in various states of restoration for the last 10 years by my late father and a great British Restoration company in Denver for the last year. They are close to getting it Road Worthy. It's not perfect, but it's mine. Looking forward to local road trips and Solvang 2021.

Welcome. Pretty cool having a right hand drive car. The front fender side markers are from a 69 and are not correct for the car but it is yours. Is she Solex or SU powered? Nice looking car.

I think I recall that the earlier SR’s used the teardrops and they just did not come to the US until 69. But then again .. my memory is none to good!
Good looking car.

I could be wrong about the tear drop lights and the right hand drive 67 2 liters. Would not be the first time.

RHD SP311s and SR311s had the tear drop marker lights (as well as the SP310s) from the factory. Great to see a RHD example here in the states-- do you know how it came here?

Welcome, Roadsters are different than your average old sports car, and your is even more different with right hand drive- very cool and quite a conversation piece too.

Welcome! You'll be happy that you "somehow hung onto" THAT One! Good call! I see Solex gaskets in the windshield, so I'm thinkin early Solex carbs and a B cam. I'm SRL311-588, but left hand drive of course. We look forward to hearing more about the car and your combined history together.

Nice to see another RHD.
FYI: I paid a visit and a check to Sports Car Craftsmen. They are the mechanics / restoration company that's had it for the last year. I'll be bringing my first born back home Sat.

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the group! The only details I have on this car, are that it had possibly been in TX. I can't read the engine ID, care to share that or the original paint/interior combination?

Thanks

Sorry for the slow reply. Yes, I purchased it in Texas. The original color was silver with Black interior. There is no engine number on the ID. I attached a better photo.
