Helping a friend get his 67 1600 back on the road. I got the engine running but sputtered and spit. Rebuilt carbs adjusted valves put in new rotor cap points fired up ran pretty good needs carb adjust but starter went out. Put in new old starter and fired up but had a problem no spark while cranking until stop cranking and sparks. Ok starter switch pulled switch and had an intermittent relay in engine compartment going on and off hmm. tried to start again and now would start while cranking. Ok engine running started to adjust carbs sounds good. Tuned off engine to start again to see how well it would start and now no power wont crank no lights nothing. Ok put in new ignition switch no power nothing any ideas as to the problem?

1) Bad grounds, clean up all large grounds in Engine compartment
2) Wire came off, burnt or fried the ammeter (All power runs through this)
3) Starter wire harness disconnected/fried loose - this runs down by the clutch master at the fire wall 3 wire harness often toasty
4) Don't know what could possibly be an "intermittent relay" unless a) Starter solenoid, or PO added an electric fuel pump?

First, do you have headlights? If so then it is not your ammeter. If it is your ammeter you can bypass it with a 30 amp ATO fuse plugged in to the blade connectors.
Check the battery connection, starter connection both battery and solenoid.
Check the starter harness plug where it plugs in to the dash harness right by the master cylinders.
There's only two relays on the car, horn and headlight unless someone added something.
Starter solenoid can go click when you try it of course if something is wrong there.
