I know this topic has been discussed a lot already, still I am lost.

So question :

what will fit ?

General guidelines: 4x114.3 bolt pattern, 6" wide wheel, +15 offset, 73mm center bore (minumim)

Anything wider, or higher/lower in offset may cause clearance issues

So I bought the rims pictured above

And now I am in the hunt for tires .
I was thinking of either :
185 55 R15
Or
195 45 R15

195 should be the widest tire I can fit on a 5.5" rim !?

Is there anything that fits better ?

I'm no expert, but I think a 45 will make a hard riding car that much worse and create more space between the tire to fender... maybe a 195/50 15? Even 195/55 15? I run a 205/50 15 with a comp suspension and the tire to fender is perfect IMHO. Review tire pics and sizes on the site to see what looks good to you before you buy.

If your car is not lowered, you can probably even fit 195 60 15's on it. I think 60 profile is a good mix for spirited driving and street driving (we have lousy paving in Los Angeles, so anything less can destroy a suspension).

As far as width, there are 25.4mm per inch. The exterior of an aluminum wheel is about an inch wider than the measured width. So a 5.5" wheel is 6.5" edge to edge. A 195 mm wide tire (and that is max to max, not tread width) is 195/25.4 or 7.7". So a 195 tire will bow out appx 1/2" beyond the edge of the wheel on each side. A 185 tire will bow out appx 3/8" beyond the wheel.

You are probably right.
I might go with an 195/55/15. Since my car is not lowered this might fit well.
Now I have to change the studs first.
At the back this seems easy, either drill a hole or pull the axle a little bit.
But how hard is the front !
Do I have to remove caliper , disk and everything ?

I was worried about 195 being to large for the rim. But it seems to work out .

The studs get pressed in, by you or a shop, no drilling.
