Hello gang! This electrical novice needs some enlightenment. There is not a control module in this setup. (See pics below) There are two wires that goes directly to the coil and resistor. The coil is a MSD 8202 which I think is a high output coil. Since there are no points can I bypass the resistor? Thereby achieving better spark
This is what I read in the setup instructions that were with the car- but those instructions also have a control module attaching to the side of the distributor. I'm confused. Lost and confused really.

That's a pertronix system. The module is inside the distributor. Whether you can bypass the resistor depends on the resistance of the coil. In reality there is typically little to be gained by removing the resistor.

I find the pertronix system more reliable with the resistor in place. They work great if not abused, if you draw too much current from them, they die (like any other semiconductor device). Maybe not right away, but at some inconvenient time far from home lol.

Anyone know the pertronix part number for the roadster. A search gives a part number for Datsun 4 cylinder but who knows?
