Intro, previous Roadsters owner

Post by MrV8Q »

Hello, I am a 4 time roadster owner, 1 1600 and 3 2000s. Probably been 30 years since I last owned a 2000, and it was the best of the 4.

I just came across paperwork from Culver CIty Datsun regarding my 3rd roadster, and I thought I would post the VIN and CA plate to see if it is still alive. The paperwork dates to 20 October 1979.

The VIN Is SRL311-05645. It was a ‘69 2000, CA 410 DNB, which would have made it a blue plate. I sold the car to a couple around 1980, when I was living in Playa Del Rey, Los Angeles. I later bought a very nice 2000 out of Pasadena.

Is this little guy still around?

After missing the roadster for years, I came across a ‘59 TR3, which I rehabbed and have owned for 15+ years.

Thanks!

Welcome. I checked the registry and that VIN is not listed. That does not mean it is not a survivor. I am sure there are many roadsters not in the registry. Are you looking for another or just stopping by to say "Hey"?

Thanks, Steve, I am just stopping by to see if this old 2000 is still around. I was surprised to stumble upon the VIN.

I do not need another 2000.

In my personal circumstances, I have found that 2 old fun cars is one too many, which is why the elder statesman TR3 is still around; a TR6 had to be sacrificed.

Where might I find the registry? I wish I knew the VIN of my last 2000, a ‘70 if I recall correctly. It was stellar!

The registry is here.

https://www.311s.org/registry/new/registryhome.html

Use the magnifying glass top upper left. You can enter the search criteria there. VIN, name, state, ect.

My very first car was a TR3. Wish I still had it.

Hello. I am a former 66 1600 Roadster, actually it was my first car! I spent every penny I had working on fixing it up including putting a U20 with Solex carbs and a 5 speed gearbox.
Flash forward and almost 50 years later, I want another one!
Have spent the last month quarantined like many Californians searching for my Roadster. I would like to find a 1965-1967.5 model year. I bid on one a few weeks ago, but didn’t make the reserve. Was high bidder though. I guess it wasn’t meant to be.
Anyway, I still searching and thought I’d reach out to the Roadster community for some help. Thank you
