Trying to think about where I could mount a camera back there.. It might be possible. The question is will there be enough light to see anything.

~90% of the Datsun Roadster race cars run a Panhard or Watts Linkage with leaf springs. Lots of pictures:

We happened to be repairing the mount for the Panhard on the McDowell car today. Although this is a 4 link car.

RCMike,
What kind of end links do you use; heim joints or do you upgrade to Johnny Joints or something better?

Both cars use Heim joint. Bought from the local Trophy Truck fabricator..

Honestly no idea. There are quite a few. We have seen a lot show up at various events, that I had never seen or heard of before. And hell, I own 3 of them.. I think where they start getting rare is when you start talking about cars with significant race history back decades..

I'm going to proceed with the panhard rod, and I want to build it with the body off the frame--much easier. Does anybody know how much weight would be appropriate to put on the rear to represent actual body tub & driver weight so I can make sure I end up with a bar close to parallel to the rear axle? My design will have some movement available but I'd like to get it as close as possible. Thanks!

I could make a WAG at it, but no real data..

Kevin and lifted the rear tub when we fixed the Vest car.. I am going to guess 300-350 from the doors back.. Add 70 pounds for the gas, and you would be there..

Getting close to what I want on the panhard bar attaching point to the rear end. I need to take a torch to the shock mount part; the angle isn't what I need. I made a 1.75" spacer to use to ensure the correct spacing for the Ridetech endlinks I'll be using along with a 5/8" bolt. Also I'm not sure about the steel monoleaf spring hitting on the mount on compression. Would require a significant redesign to avoid that, which I could do if its a problem, but I'm not sure. Can't see from here but I'll be giving myself ~1/2" clearance from the rear end as the bar goes up and down.
