Dual Brake Master Cylinder

You win some..You lose some.
This time I think I won.
I accidentally ran across an ad for this brake master while searching for nos international scout parts.
Looked several times at the picture, recognized the part number, and noticed that it was labeled for use on a 68-72 510.
They had a price of $68 on it (same as the applicable year) so I bought it. It was nice that they didn't list it for $510.
Now I have to find a Datsun 510. :D

That is a great price and it can be used on a late Roadster it you buy the fittings to change it from metric. I plan on having custom dual master cylinders made for me in the next 60-90 days. They will be direct bolt in's and be less than half the cost of other vendors. I am just finishing testing the sample for the early single brake master cylinder and those will be available in the next 30 days.

A choice in master cylinders will be a bonus for the roadster community.
Good to seeing another part being addressed.

Resleeving by Karp's in stainless will be my next move unless I find another 510 master

Had my front brake cylinders done years ago by Karp’s and they have held up great.

Brian:
Any thought to having a stainless sleeved option with your custom master?
I would be interested in paying more for this up front, our cars sit for too long with inactivity (even if only a month or a few weeks at a time) and without consistent, annual flushes, they are subject to more rust than ordinary cars in my opinion.

I will see if this is an option and what the additional costs might be. It doesn't hurt to look into it, right?

The issue with re-sleeving is you still need a new rebuild kit. The kits are $199 from Dean and $218.50 on eBay. I am expecting to be able to offer a new dual master cylinder for just a bit more than a rebuild it costs.

I hope this isn't a hijack, if so, mods please delete.

When re-sleeving is done, is the cylinder bored out so the SS sleeve has the same ID as the original? I assume this is the way it is done but have not really seen much about how the whole process is done.

Yes, sleeved back to original size with either SS or brass typically. Either material is superior for longevity over the original AL (or plain steel due to corrosion).

I have found no bolt on fittings (adaptors) needed to use these 510 M/C's.
The large (1-1/8" ?) bolt looking things in the bottom of the picture are easily removed, and the "bolts" from the roadster cylinder are same threads.
This makes the inputs SAE, so compatible with roadster brake lines. All you have to do is put the M/C in a vise and pad the sides, as the torque is substantial but nothing too crazy.
