Hello from the Northwest

Post by Yellow 2000 »

Hey guys!
Stumbled across this forum while looking for wiring diagrams on my newly inherited '69 2000. My Aunt bought the car new in Monterey, CA and has held onto her all these years. Now she is mine. I have the rare perspective of remembering this car from my childhood, lusting after her, and now owning her. Although garaged, she is a little rough, there is nothing that doesn't need attention. I got her running and driving, but that was mostly an operation of assessment. She came with the soft top, hard top, and tonneau cover and all of her is here. Let the games begin!

Looks like a solid car with all the parts. Should be an easy restoration if you decide to go that route, or would be great as a driver with a little sweat equity. Congrats for keeping it in your family. Let the fun commence!

You're probably right! The yellow truck is my dad's non Datsun '62 Willys. It is now fully restored and sporting it's original US Forest Service green. As you well know, old cars are an illness that is often inherited and never cured.

Welcome to the forum, love the Willys!

The roadster looks pretty complete and that's huge. When was it last running before you inherited it?

Welcome. There are a few of us enthusiasts nearby. I'm in eastern Washington state and am aware of some Montana owners. I have friends and family scattered throughout Montana, always visiting someone there. So you care to offer what town you're in? Pat

Mikeb: This car was last running in 1989, at least that was when the registration expired. She had some sort of electrical gremlin that the next door shadetree mechanic/hack couldn't figure out. All it took from me was a new battery, voltage regulator, clean fuel, cleaning the carbs and bypassing the ammeter and she lit right off

Pat: I live in Columbia Falls, about 10 miles north of Kalispell. The roadster is on the farm in Oregon. The thought of storing her up here makes me want to leave her in her nice warm barn until the summer months.
