Looking forward to driving the doors off and constant tinkering.
Bought in Chicago as a “frame off†restoration which looks like more of a “good respray with some attention to rust firstâ€. Frame looks clean and trouble free however.
I’d love to post pictures, but it’s been constantly raining the past few days and there is no soft top yet.
Two issues or questions:
When were the side vent windows used? Mine doesn’t have them, and I like the look. It appears, in my searches on this forum, that the high window years did have them, but was this just the 2000s?
Also, it starts pretty good cold, but it’s struggling to start warm. I have no experience with cars but am willing to learn. It reportedly has a new fuel pump, so that’s lower on my differential. I watched a few videos last night on how to service and tune a dual carb system? Anyone have any quick thoughts?
Matt

Operating vent windows were on the 65-67.5 cars only. Welcome!

If it starts easily cold but not hot, I'd suspect a sticking cnoke.
Check plugs to see if rich, especially at idle.

Also, apparently it’s a 1968 based on the “VINâ€, despite being titled as a 1969

Very common, lots of states issue titles based on year of sale, not model.
Side marker lites are the giveaway:
68: None
69: Teardrop
70: Square

Go to the tech wiki here for all you want to know about your SU carburetors.

Here’s my first picture.
Bought it 3 days ago in a rainstorm. Drove it for an hour or so and have each of the kids a quick ride in it two days ago. Rained yesterday. Rained this morning. Sunny at noon so I took it it. And it died. Should be fun.

Saw this one for sale on CL , thought it looked really good even tough wasn’t too crazy about the front flare/spoiler but that just personal taste
Great pickup, enjoy

Huh, hadn’t seen this one in Chicago before. Looks like you got a pretty clean one, glad to see it’s staying in the Midwest. I think there’s a few roadster guys in Michigan, so you’re not alone out there.

I think the photos and descriptions were quite generous. It seems like a decent driver, but currently its not even doing that.

Was this the EBay car with the maroon Hardtop?
