Make sure the pictures are less than 2mb each. You will know the picture is good when you get a green check mark when you attach it

OK those that said no such think as a splash guard were right. Sorry for any confusion. Did finally learn how to add pictures to this :)
Looking for the piece that attaches the fender to the car. Pic of what's left. Thanks

It looked like a splash guard to me because the part that has the holes that attach to the fender were completely gone. We were both guessing.

I had to add a pic of what the inner fender looks like now. lot of work rebuilding the inner fender.

Car sat in an unheated barn for over 35 years. Been working on it since 2013. Engine runs great, all mechanicals replaced (mostly) .
Drove it over to my car body guy a few months ago. Progress has been made. Not together yet. Thanks everyone

Wow, that is pretty eaten up. Did you exhaust attempts to get a donor body, or just dive into what you had? Lot of nice fabrication work going on there.

Just dove right in. Here in New York not many, if any parts cars around. The car used to belonged to Mikey my 92 year old friend and was his last sports car before he got married. Hope to give him a ride in it again :D
It is/was pretty roached. Jeff the body guy is amazing

He must be fearless, I would have taken one look at that and ran for the hills! Still you have a neat and admirable goal to give the 92 year old a little thrill - or blast from the past! Good luck with your continuing restoration efforts!

There are lots of threads with pictures,, try searching (Very top right corner of this page) under Fender Repair or Fender Replacement or fender Bodywork etc. I did a quick search and a lot of pictures come up, but there are so many threads available that you will have to dig into a lot of them to find the shot you want.

Well, this is what I was talking about. maybe - I'm not crazy, just maybe

Its the piece that attaches the fender to the car body. Its comes attached to a "New" fender but was all but gone on the old one Jeff had to rebuild. The guy is amazing. car is coming along. Only 7 years into the project but it is finally approaching completion!
Lock down here in New York has been tough but getting stuff done that has been on the back burner a long time!
thanks everyone
Toby

On the early cars those are apparently spot welded to the fender and bolt to the post. I say apparently because as much time as I spent on my left fender I don't recall seeing any dimples from the spot welds.

They are spot welded to the fender and bolt to the chassis. I have 2 fenders I am going to throw away. Wish you were closer.
