questions about fuel lines

The fuel line coming from the tank is rubber and as it passes the bottom/front of the tank, it goes onto a metal fuel line that heads to the frame rail, and up to the front of the car. It’s held onto the metal line with a hose clamp and popped off the other day. I remade the connection but noticed that the metal line isn’t flared where the rubber hose slips over it. Should it be flared?

Don't know about 69, but my 70 has HARD fuel line from tank all the way to engine compartment - before the fuel filter.
I'm just surprised that there would be SOFT fuel line between tank and hard line.

Considering some of the things I’ve discovered about this car since buying it from the previous owner, I’m not surprised.

Like Peter said, should be metal all the way to engine compartment. Return line is metal as well.

I've dont this to mine because of clogging on the curved lines . cut out them in the motor area too for same reason . maybe that's why it's not there or flared . I flared mine . works well . but that may be why your po did it too .

That ridge (I think you mean ) is on pressurized lines to keep the hose from flying off ,we are talking suction on a 311...just be sure to use the correct size rubber hose

Mine has an SR20 in it. Would that not make mine, with the attending fuel pump in the tank, pressurized?
I’m going to add a second hose clamp which ought to get me to November when the car is ‘coming apart’ for some proper work.

Thanks. It's been decades since I've had a 'project car' and it's amazing how much I've forgotten over the years. Or never knew in the first place.
