Mounting luggage rack

So I'm trying to mount a luggage rack, but from what I'm seeing is the trunk braces will get in my way, no matter where I locate the rack. What does your hardware look like, and what does it look like under your lid? I appreciate the help, thanks!

Yes, that is the way the ones that I have seen work. You have to drill through the braces. The luggage racks that I have seen, if anything is put on them, tend to be too heavy for the sheet metal. I would slip some washers in between the skin and the brace as you insert the screws, so that the braces will support the skin better.

Do you have the beveled spacers that should go with it?

Instead of cutting into your deck lid, you should get one that is already drilled. That way, if you decide you don't want to run the rack, you can remount the original deck lid.

For my restoration car I have two, with and without. The car came with a rack so I got another lid.

I do not have those spacers! I'm guessing they are hard to find? :(

Oh strange... And just have some type of wing nut that tightens down on top of the brace? I would love to see a picture if anybody has one.

Most of the racks are Amco luggage racks. I plan to make some spacers.

Just go to Home Depot or Ace Hardware (preferable) and get long nylon spacers and cut them to the appropriate length.

Since it was an aftermarket item I don't think you'll find two mounted alike.

This is a terrible picture sorry but it's the only one I have unfortunately... you will just have to brighten it up but mine show the bolts going through the last holes on the top very left and very right (if looking at trunk open). Then the bottom 2 are just equally matched on the bottom.

Not sure if this helps
