spl with a 5 speed trans

Post by Howard R »

I'm considering buying a 1966 spl with a 5 speed from an srl. Anyone know of any downside to this swap? Or upside?
Thanks, Howard

I haven't run this combo (r16/w 5spd), but Joe Roach from the San Diego area has this setup in his roadster.

From folks that run this combo, they have been extremely positive about the 4spd to 5spd upgrade.

I was debating this swap as well. I dont like driving the car at 4k rpms on the freeway although it has no issues it would be better to be on the freeway at around 2,500 rpms...

...and probably the reason why you can't even give a 4-speed away. :P

My first roadster was a 1600 5 speed, as I recall, it was great.
