The 5 year search is over

Hey guys, new to roadsters not mechanical work. I’ve been searching for a roadster off and on for about 5 years now. I was looking for 65-67.5 but with my expendable income I never found anything in my price range. I randomly jumped on Craigslist last week and found a 1970 1600 barn find kind of deal. Car was last registered (and probably started) in 1991 and has been covered for the last 30 years out of the rain and snow.
First order of business was to haul it 200 miles home and get it off the trailer. Second order vacuum out the presents a tiny fury friend left behind and see what I’m dealing with interior wise. Third was to figure out the trunk since the key didn’t work, I did the trick behind the license plate tab and got that opened up took the lock out, disassembled, and repinned it to my key so now that works.
Next thing is to disassemble the carbs and get those unstuck and cleaned out. Cable moves from the carb rocker to the firewall so I know the cable isn’t stuck in the sleeve. I don’t know if I’ll use this intro as my build thread or start something else. Anyone else in Yakima, WA? My neighbor has a 68 2000 with a really cool back story and is in amazing condition. Anyway I’ll add a few pics once I get them uploaded and sized some in the barn it was in and some after transport and a hose down and glass cleaner.

Make it a high priority to bleed your brakes. You could get lucky and avoid $600.00 worth of repairs. Not likely but still possible.

Great pictures. I think you will be amazed once you get her all cleaned up. Hydraulics-brakes and clutch master are most likely toast after this long but you might get lucky. I would just have the old bits re-sleeved by Karp out of Upland CA. It will not cost that much more than all new components and you should never have to worry about again. Brakes and a working clutch are pretty important. Start a new thread on your progress in the members garage area. Thanks.

Congratulations on the find. She looks pretty complete and it sounds like you have skills that will be invaluable.
What's your plan for the car?

The plan is to try my best to keep main components in the Nissan family. S15 sr20det swap, R-34 bayside blue for paint and maybe a cream color interior (scorching black seats aren’t fun in summer months) . I’m back and forth on 3or4 link suspension in the rear. If the brakes need to be rebuilt I might just upgrade now to something better
Steve where is karp, off foothill? I grew up down in that area so I know Main Street areas

One mod I can see is the lack of smog. That is probably a good thing but you should probably familiarize yourself with what is missing and what is in its place so you know what you are looking at. Looks like a good project.

Never been to Karp's as I always ship the goods to be re-sleeved. Here is their address-- 66 N Central Ave, Upland, CA 91786.

nice, we have a house down in San Felipe. Id be shocked if the cars are still here I haven't seen any in this town went to Tacoma to pick this car up. Seems like you got out in time anyway; crime is picking up, development everywhere, apartments going up behind westwood west.

I know one of them is still in Naches. Also one in Yakima but the new owner is shy about driving it. Seems a shame to not enjoy them but some folks just like their garage jewelry I suppose. I agree about Yakima going to the dogs. Its a good place to BE FROM.

If you get down this way give us a shout. We have a two bedroom guesthouse on Airbnb.
