FNG... 1965 Fairlady

Just picked up a sweet girl... I'll send pics soon, I promise ;)

The PO had the engine rebuilt / new clutch in 95 and reset the odometer then... it reads 875 now! and hasn't been driven for about 3 yrs.

She's a good 20 footer... from up close the body is a little rough, I'm guessing there's a fair bit of bondo underneath.

One of the front wheel cylinders is out. I'm interested in a front disc swap, and am hoping the later hubs/ caliper bracket / dust shield will fit (it's drums now).

I'm still researching, but have been told the motor is from a later model (1600)

Looking forward to learning and sharing here and feeling that wind in my hair and taking in some curvy mountain roads!

Here she is... still trying to determine what year it actually is... I'm sure there's a lot that's not original... the engine was rebuilt in the 90's. There appears to be some front end and rear end body repairs with a bit of bondo hiding underneath...

Drum brakes all around
Dual Carbs
Vin tag says 65
Dash matches 63-64 pics in the tech wiki

I'm brand new to these cars and would appreciate hearing about anything you see, or that I should check out.

Previous owner said he drove it 3yrs ago, front wheel cylinders are out... electric fuel pump isn't pumping, I figure I should flush all fluids. Probably need to take carbs apart and clean them... drain / replace all fluids, anything else I should be looking for??? Hoping to have some time for her this winter!!

I was thinking of adding an electric fuel pump like yours just to prime the fuel system after sitting for awhile. My carbs go dry and it takes a lot of cranking to get fuel back up to the carbs. I was thinking of adding a switch to turn the pump off and letting the mechanical pump handle the daily run.

gilly, I am sure more people will comment.
Engine # should match vin tag, if not the engine has been replaced. On the side of the block should be numbers telling the displacement.
I can't tell if it has a third seat, only '63, '64. '65 did not have one.
'65 went to front disk brakes.
'64 the battery behind the passenger seat, not in the engine bay as in '65.
Your vin tag reads 4- SPL 310 --- , the 4 means your car is a '64. Maybe registered in '65.
Looks like you have some PO modifications that need to be corrected. Too bad about the aftermarket hood pins.
As you do the research you will find that there are not many '64 left. And by the way, nice score, Have fun.

It is a 1964 model that was sold in 1965. There are a few details incorrect - most are easy to remedy. The most expensive will be the hubcaps. Nice looking car!

For a second I thought Bart and Lisa Simpson were in the car in the first pic! Do you have the 3rd seat in the back? Thanks for posting up the pics and VIN plate, my 64 is pretty well documented and it's interesting to me to see the different engine #s vs VIN #s and which cars they were installed in. To compare I know my car was sold in early 1964 likely actually built very late 63/early 64 and mine is VIN 02211 and engine# 80088. Yours probably is one of the "newest" 3 seat Fairladys still out there! Cool.

There isn't a back seat in there now, I'm going to look for brackets / mounting points when I get back to the car... I do know the battery used to be there but the PO moved it to the trunk and there is a toolbox there now. I'll probably be on a hunt for a back seat!
