correct lug nut size or conversion to 12mm

Post by roadstermike »

I intend to use 14x6 watanabe's for my roadster. I was thinking of ordering the special lugs for them but I dont know the correct size to order. My understanding is the stock roadster uses a 7/16 lug nut. I do not know the correct length of lug nuts. What is the correct length I should look for? I heard the 7/16 lugs are special order and cost twice as much as the 12mm lugs.

It would be easier to buy 12mm lugs and change my wheel studs to 12mm? Any pros or cons to changing to 12mm studs?

Thanks for any input.

lug nut size...

a 7/16 lug nut is pretty common, I just walked into pep Boys and tried my old ones on their 'fitter'. as far as length, it depends on the depth of the rim you have, whether it needs conical faced nuts or shank, and whether you like acorn (closed head) nuts or open head nuts. Most modern rims take conical nuts except those unusual 280zx rims. Good luck, Fergus O
