I need a Fuel Pump '66 1600 !!

Post by Bungle »

Hey guys - my '66 is leaking Oil from the base of the fuel pump around the pivot pin (?? - info given over the phone from my mechanic). The car's in at the shop at the moment getting things done to it that I can't do myself and this is one of the little things that's cropped up.

They going to seal it up for me but it's only a temporary measure.

I need to find a replacement fuel pump / or the part that will prevent this problem in future. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Cheers, John.

Probably the fuel pump gaskets(2) one on the engine side and antoher on the fuel pump side one on each side of the spacer.

New fuel pumps are available from the local parts store here. If not, try a forklift supplier. Anyway, if it is a thin flange pump, the flange could have cracked. The pumps were redesigned to have a thicker flange. You still need the spacer with the thick flange pumps, so you may need longer studs.

Are the rocker arm pin ends exposed to the outside of the pump casting or are they blocked of with a ball bearing peened into the casting?

I cant remember because its been awhile since I looked at one.

Ray, not sure of the answer to this as I don't have the car at the moment. From the description my mechanic gave me there is wear to or around the 'pivot pin' where oil is getting past... Anyway he's repaired this, but can't guarantee its permanence. I'm really after a supplier that can get me a replacement pump for when I eventually am faced with this problem once more.

As far as I know there's no gasket problems or cracks anywhere.

My mechanic tried a couple of pumps from the H20 motor (used in a light commercial van in Australia), but there were clearance issues so they were not useful.

If anyone knows the name/website of a place that does the exact part it'd be much appreciated if you could let me know. Cheers, John.

Almost all of the usual suspects come to mind:

Rallye
Rising Sun Racing
Fairlady Products
Sports Imports
Classic Datsun Motorsports

And so on. Should not be too hard to come by.
