New Datsun 2000 Owner in Orange County

Hi Everyone!

My name is Max and I live in Costa Mesa in Orange County, CA. I recently acquired a lovingly restored 1969 SRL311. This little Fairlady is quite a few firsts for me: first vintage car, first convertible, first red car, first stick shift ! My wife, Heather, and I are already in love with "Lady Sif" [aside: we're slightly geeky and named all of our cars after Thor's sidekicks from the Marvel universe].

You can find us cruising in Sif to our favorite local coffee shops and to the beach on almost any sunny weekend. Sadly, I bought the roadster right as we got hit with the first real rainy season I've seen in the five years I've been in SoCal. It took two weeks just to find a dry spell to drive the car home since it's not totally watertight! Fortunately, the forecast is for sunshine this weekend and I'll have the Roadster on display at the Classic Car Show at the OC Fair (https://www.theclassicautoshow.com/los-angeles). Please come by and say hello!

Look forward to being part of this awesome community!

Welcome! I'll let you know when we do another drive up through Azusa canyon or CA-2. We had a good size crew last time (2 left before the picture was taken) and welcome many more.

I get the sentiment, but the new PDK is an incredible transmission on the racetrack. Lots of folks became converts, especially since it doesn't cost us any points to spec a car with PDK vs a manual. I've also seen more than a few cars go home on a flatbed because of a misshift.

welcome!
It's great to hear you will be at the L.A. classic car show. I'll be showing my roadster as well but I'll be displaying it with the Japanese Experience section. Hope to meet you soon. See you Sunday!

Ask and ye shall receive!

Pretty simple interior, I've seen a few folks here have reworked the dash. Maybe that's a future project...

I'm thinking of replacing the current Miata seats with more period correct Cobras and adding a rollbar that works with the soft top.

Sif aint bad at all!... Id seen that one on CL for a while. Im not a fan of the way the black stripes look, not sure what it is but they just dont look correct to me.

What else is in store besides an interior revamp?

Nice looking car! I think the stripes compliment the wheels perfectly. engine bay is clean and tidy.

Looks like a really well done restoration with a lot of attention to detail. Congratulations!

Not sure yet... I've learned with my last race car build that you want to get to know and enjoy your car as is first before starting to plan any projects. More fun and less money that way!
