Turn Signal Wiring Question

Post by camronware »

Hi all! I'm new to this particular forum, but not new to Datsuns or Nissans :)
I've had 3 200sx's SEs (86-88 ) and a '88 300zx Shiro, and finally have a new project in a '68 2000. (-04790 if I remember correctly)

Anyway, I'm in process of doing a mild restoration, mainly just the interior and new paint. The previous owner actually installed an L16 for some reason, but it's rebuilt and runs great. So I'll think about a swap later...

So the interior is coming along fine, but I've got a electrical question...

All bulbs work fine, headlamps, markers, tails...I have a new turn signal switch, and new flashers.
I can turn left, dash arrow blinks correctly, left side of car blinks correctly. However, I cannon 'turn right'. The dash light for the right arrow doesn't blink; it stays on, but dim, and the marker light and tail light do not blink.
Same thing with my hazards. The driver's side flashes just fine, but the right does not.
Can anyone point to me where I need to look to check the wiring on that? It's really just a matter of me finding it...
Thanks a bunch!

Here's some wiring diagrams:

I would start by checking for good grounds. I've been lucky so far on my '69 2000 that all the electrical problems have been due to loose connections!

I had the same issue with my left side. I had a wrong cable hooked up by the clutch cylinder I actually had the blinker light connected to the reverse light and at first it wouldnt not blink it would stay dim, then one day the reverse light started bliking and i knew where the problem was. Check the wires by the clutch mc in the engine bay and make sure they are in the correct location. And check your grounds as well.

Thanks guys..yeah this week I'm tracing this down..

That color diagram rocks my world!

Just another question though, I'm pretty sure it is just a grounding issue, but if just one wire/harness wasn't grounded, would that cause this? Just wondering..

Oh, one more thing...could this be the relays? Where are they exactly and how can I test them?

ok it's all fixed now...
The front park light had two wires switched, and the rear flasher wire wasn't plugged well enough. I guess that's why the rear bulb would turn on with the brake and park lights, but not flash..
thanks guys!
