pulling engine without lift brackets

Hello,
With everything disconnected I am about to pull the engine and trans to address trans leak and other upgrades. Car came with the rear lift bracket installed. Is there a front bracket? Where is best place to bolt chain to front right of engine if no bracket is available?

I have bolted onto the side of the block using the alternator mounting holes. As the "slinger" (front bracket) goes on the thermostat housing, that should work as well.

You can use the point where the alternator bracket mounts, here was mine:

You can use the correct straps, then that chain wouldn’t grind away on your nice valve cover.

Hi Linda/everybody!

After an longer-than-expected period running around the planet actually (gasp) working, I'm back home and back at getting the car back on the road. When we last left our story, I had...a lot of bodywork to do. That's now my self-appointed full time job, so hopefully with some luck and maximum effort, old faithful will be ready for another adventure in the spring. Just about everything under the car is done and on the chassis (frame, motor, trans, rear, brakes, suspension, etc.), although after some discussion with some fellow roadster-ers I think I'm going to swap the DP springs/KYBs for a set of Mike Young springs/Bilsteins from JT before I drop the body back on. I love the stance on those DPs, but man, they're harsh on a long trip.

Thanks for the compliments on the blog, too. I'm hoping to get it updated with some more recent (non-roadster) trips, and also update the code for some better formatting and photo handling; the galleries are really starting to show their age.

Current status: Naked and disoriented

Glady your back! Regarding the springs, I run original Datsun Comps on the front, and the Bs changed everything, so they may not be as unacceptable as before. Springs are not hard to change out... just an option!
