I didn’t see this on the list : ignition switch/housing

I'm good at removing things , especially if I don't need to remember how they go back . haha . if your in cali I'm down for a removal party . . sounds fun .

Hi Lorna,
I'm near Pasadena and my plan is to pull the motor/trans off and see if any locals want to have at it. I'm open to any particular parts anyone wants me to ship to them. But please look at the pictures. This car is pretty burnt!

Throw a disassembly party, everyone brings their cut-off saw, grinders, sawzalls or what ever and go to town.

I think this will be fun but let me slowly figure what I can do to minimize pissing off my neighbors during the disassembly party.

I'll check underneath the dash but I'll wait when it's much dryer. I'll stop raining here sometime after Saturday. I hope the gauge voltage reg. didn't get fried from the heat when it was in that forest fire.

If its a later style steering gear grab that along with any spare chassis/suspension parts. I would say any decent chrome/trim bits. That grille, all the unboltable pieces really. Anything not melted or warped beyond use.

This is earlier than the 8000 so not too sure if I want to tackle pulling off that steering box. I was happy to see that stainless trim that goes across the top of the windshield still in tack for this 69. I have a local that is going to help me pull some parts that's worth saving.

I'll see if that's worth keeping as the internals are probably burnt beyond salvaging. It's quite a sight to see that the heat was so intense that the steering horn button became a glob of foam.

Thanks for offering. I would hate for you to drive all the way down here for just small bits and pieces. Will I see your texture coated roadster, again, this year?

Yeah I meant more to keep the housing but not the actual switch sorry. You can replace the ignition switch for cheap but the actual ignition housing that surrounds the steering wheel is pretty pricy unless you buy a later model Z one like I did.

oh man , leave my car out of this .. haha . idk . my car isn't worthy of a show that's for sure .. it's so close to me I may go just to go and see others cars . but probably won't enter .. you aren't far from me . I've made that trip 100× - my X lived there for a while . (dropping kids off and pick up kinda thing ) anyway I get ya .. it's cool.

Nuts and bolts. I parted out a BMW 2002 about 30 years ago and am still using hardware I salvaged from it!
