vac line for distributor

assembling everything. Can anyone tell me where to connect the vacuum line to the carb? I have the 1600 solex carbs.

If they're truly Solex carbs (which was not stock), then there probably is no vacuum advance and you should cap off the diaphragm on the distributor. I don't know if a Solex 2000 distributor will work on a 1600; that's a question for those more knowledgeable than me.
If they're SUs (stock), then there's a vacuum fitting under the rear carb. Since the front and rear carb are otherwise identical, it is easy to accidentally swap them, so if it's not on the rear carb, check the front one.

Is there supposed to be a balancer hose from one carb to the other, because I have a hose connections on the bottom of both.

No, I guess I just have a set with 2 rear carbs 'cause both have a vac connection. Do I have to plug one, so there is no leak?
