Hello from Somerset,UK

Hi guys I purchased my 1970 1600 Roadster 3 years from a chap in Lithuania on the 'CarandClassic' online website was a bit apprehensive at first but he had made available loads of extra pic mainly of the underside which is in remarkably good condition, anyway to cut a long story short car turned up as promised and 3 grand swapped hands unfortunately due to work and house renovations I only started serious work on her in Jan 2018 after a bit of welding and bodywork hope to spray her before Christmas.

These great cars are very rare over here in UK (just a handful registered I belief) but amazingly I found a guy only a few miles from me with a 1500 3 seater he has done a full body off restoration so hope to go to a few shows next year!

I felt I had to join a club that had like minded people with plenty of enthusiasm and knowledge about these cars as the knowledge base here is very limited as is the parts supply.

Anyway hope to have the odd chat with you guys now and again I hope to get a couple of pics up soon.

Cheers
Ali

Hello, welcome. Hope you are able to meet up with some other owners to chat and work on your cars. Then, when you are all driving, how about a few pics of the English countryside. It's fun to see the Roadster in various locations around the world. Imagine a pic with a Coldstream guard...cool. :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions when I start playing with the mechanics just had a fun packed afternoon in the footwells pulling the heater and ducting etc out so knees and back are aching a bit, freed up and greased the heater valve can't believe the price of them new.

Two pics added :

First is when I took delivery and second is as its now replaced the bonnet and nearside front wind front was mainly filler as was the bottom where it meets the rocker/A pillar obtained these parts from Greg Clark in Arizona ( very helpful ) am awaiting a secondhand trunk lid which is loads better than my present one.

Hope you like the pics and one day I'll have some decent ones taken near my Somerset home.

Cheers for now.
Al

Welcome my English FRIEND! My wife and I were recently in York for the second time this summer... we love you guys! On both occasions we were coming to England post a visit to Berlin, and the friendliness factor went WAY up as we crossed the pond. Everyone happy to help you, laugh with you, smile at you. Nothing wrong with Germany, we saw Depeche Mode two nights in a row and wow, what a great crowd! Just a different vibe.
Anyway, you are in the right place here... you found family. All questions are good questions so never hesitate to ask. And who knows, maybe we'll move to England someday and bring the Roadster!

Ali - You mentioned that you posted pictures, if you did, they didn't "take". Can you repost? Let us know if you are having difficulty or need some instruction.
