I got a call early this morning, letting me know Carl Langenfeld, (Carlkaty here) had died last night. In the last few years he has traveled all over in his Datsun and met quite a few of the people on this board at The Mitty and Shasta. Carl was one of the most giving people, to friends and strangers, that I ever met. I don't know what more to say, except that I've lost a very close friend and that we as a group have lost a great member.

So sorry to hear this, I enjoyed his posts and adventures in his Datsun. Never met the man, but read a lot of his stuff. He certainly enjoyed the ride. My condolences to his family and friends.

Extremely sad news. Briefly met Carl at a Shasta meet, If I remember correctly. He drove his V8 roadster all the way from the east coast! Loved the side pipe down turn exhaust flinging dust everywhere.

Like Tom, I never met Carl, but enjoyed reading about his endeavors. Seems like he was a knowledgeable owner and real advocate for the Roadsters. He will be missed!

So sorry to hear this. I never met him in person but we communicated via PM several times-plus I enjoyed reading his posts. Stand-up roadster fellow that was not afraid to drive his conversion across the country to meet other roadster folks. RIP Carl and condolences to his family and friends.

Sorry to hear this. After many discussions on this forum and e-mail over the years I finally got to meet Carl and Kathy at the Mitty back in April. Carl was kind and super enthusiastic. Please give my condolences to his family.

Sue and I received the news of Carl's passing yesterday morning. As others have said, Carl was kind, generous and enthusiastic about Datsuns or any car, and almost any other topic we would discuss. We always enjoyed his company and frienship. A major loss in our world. He will be missed.

Sue and Joe let us know of his passing yesterday morning. Will always remember him as the loving free spirit he was. He loved to lead some of our drives with his V8 roadster roaring.
I'm running his old Weber 40's on my 1600. He practically gave them to me a few years back.
Was our good friend and will miss his stories of his old days in the shipyards. Rip Carl.
Will be traveling to the Glen to celebrate his life.

When Dave contacted me yesterday to tell me Sherry and I were devastated. We will be there to celebrate his life. My heart goes out to Cathy and his family. I will miss his hugs when we would meet. A handshake was not enough. He was such a giving person, always there to lend a hand. Will miss you buddy.

It's ironic, I was looking for photos of Carl tonight, went through my whole phone, not one. Found photos of what we were doing, photos of the cars and places where we were, but none of him. Then I realized it was probably because he was usually right next to me, or holding the other end of whatever we were doing. I think he secretly hoped for something to break, just so he could be of help fixing it.
He hated the thought of selling any parts, agonized about putting any kind of price on something. He said was saving them in case one of us needed them, like Joe's Webers.

So sorry to hear this folks. I didn't know him, but have heard his name always mentioned in kind regards. I love this tight knit group of saps and many differing personalities. Godspeed Carl!

I'm somewhat new here on this site but often active in logging on and reading the many posts you all have contributed. The love for these little cars has truly formed a bond among us. Reading all the posts from this thread, I've come to realize it is truly my loss that I never had the opportunity to meet Carl. I never experienced the rumble from his roadster or had the chance to shake his hand. Nevertheless, he was a part of this forum and he meant something to all of you. So, as Carl speeds off into the sunset of his life, Let me extend my condolences and my most profound sympathy to the Langenfeld family and all of you.., his friends. I know with all the kind words you all have written will somehow comfort his wife and family. May God bless Carl and may God bless all of you on 311s....

For those who might be interested a page has been added to the drone-club.net website in Carl Langenfeld's memory. It has pictures of Carl, his family, friends and his car. Take a look.

He will be missed.
