Here´s my project, 1968 Roadster 2000. Bought it from California this summer and shipped it to Finland. Car was painted about 3 years ago and it was in driving condition. Got engine running but didn´t drive it because brakes were stuck after long time in ship. Interior was missing almost everything, there was only dash and seats. Gauges seems to work.
When I bought this my intention was just to fix brakes, get interior done, redo soft top and drive happily. But after I got it I decided to do full resto, so now im lifting body off and going to paint frame etc. Also engine bay was not painted during respray so that needs to be repainted.
And this is where I am now. Still needs to remove doors and replace those with some kind reinforcement bar and then body is ready to be lifted off. Also might remove windshield and dash before lifting.
Looks like your off to a good start. Be aware, reinstalling the windshield on the 68 - 70s can be a real pain, mainly due to the trim. It is possible to remove the dash without removing the windshield.

I removed windshield and dash yesterday. Reason I removed it was that it was not removed during respray. There was paint over gasket and some glue etc. It looked like it had leaked at some point. I have replaced glass on my previous 240Z and I think that this is pretty much same thing.
Looks pretty good under windshield also. There can be seen original paint and I think that car has been painted black at some point.

That is pretty much my intention as well. I am not repainting whole body, only windshield frame, part in front of windshield and engine bay. And maybe boot as it is currently black and there is also surface rust. And I am not purist in any way so im not going to make car look like it rolled from factory yesterday. Going to add my own touches and additions to it.
Borrowed cylinder leak down tester and cylinders 1,2 and 4 were 8-10% and no. 3 was 30%. It blowed through exhaust valve.
So that is one more thing added to to-do list.
I think that is one thing that I leave to machine shop instead of learning to do it by myself. Need to remove head at some point and take it to machine shop. Maybe it would be best to get cylinders honed and looked if new piston rings are needed at same time as engine is going to be removed anyway.
Yesterday I also removed doors and made braces between hinge and lock mounting point so this weekend I was planning to remove body from frame.
Body is now removed. There were no big surprises under body. Some surface rust as expected but nothing big. Also removed fenders so I can remove rust under it.
Started to work with body. Good thing that it is much warmer than normally this time of year so I could do this outside as it is quite messy work to clean that body.
Found some rust so need to weld few patches.
Does anyone have any idea why someone would weld these to frame? I assume that those are not originally there?
