Hello. New here and to Datsuns. Located in Kansas City area. Just purchased 1967.5 1600. Plan to do extensive restoration but also drive and enjoy it. Is it correct to say that the mid year model was made as they re-tooled for the 68's? If so, does the 1/2 year share parts with both the 67 and the 68? Do I search for 67 or 68 suspension parts for instance? Also for smaller parts? Or, do I need to search for 1967.5? Thanks so much, John.

Welcome John!
67.5 and 68 are world's apart. 67.5 is unique, it is the last of the low windshield models, the 68 is a high windshield model. The 67.5 is also unique from early models 66-67 with fender flares, dash layout and some interior bits. Most of the differences are in body parts - fenders, windshield, door handles, bumpers, and the dashboard and console area. Mechanically they are very similar with major changes in the Smog controls ('68 has them, 67.5 and earlier does not), electrical layout (Fuse block in engine compartment for 68 up vs glovebox), etc. Mechanically the 1600 engine is basically the same with the exception of the smog stuff. 67.5 is when they started offering the 2000 U20 engine and 5 speed. The 4 speeds and 5 speeds are interchangeable among all 67.5-70 models and between them with a few ancillary parts (Transmission mount, backing plate etc.,).You have more compatibility with the 67 for general parts. Most all of the suspension bits are the same on early and late models with the exception of the steering box and "collapsible" steering rod. This is by no means everything that is different, just a basic brush of an overview.
Spend some time perusing topics, and definitely check out the tech wiki for parts interchange info. The "Search" function is a HUGE help, and of course ask questions and you will get all the different answers and help you could possible need. Welcome to Roadster Addiction!
