RX-7 GSL-SE axle brake caliper orientation
For those of you out there with the gsl-se rear end, do you have any tips/photos you care to share of the preferred brake caliper orientation to clear the frame?

The current set-up these days is to align the lever on the caliper to match the ROD from the E brake set-up.

Thank you for the reply. Have you had any frame clearance issues, or did you do any clearancing of the frame in advance?

I bought the car with the axle installed. I have no clearance issues. The rear axle was done by the gentleman in Washington IIRC.
PS My 15x7 +12 rims fit with 205/15 Dunlop tires.

I’m also curious about the orientation. In my setup it looks like my Caliper is going to hit the frame

It may depend on which caliper rotor set-up. I have the solid disc set-up, the vented disc set-up might be different. IIRC Alvin has the vented disc.

The preferred location depends on several things, but the picture I linked to above is the best, imho. It is not necessary to clearance the frame. Yeah I narrowed the sh!t out of mine
I have about 1/2 to 3/4 on each side. But my wheels fit perfectly 205/50-15 in the wheel wells. The rearend is not fully in place yet but I’m getting there.

I had Michael from Spriso narrow my mazda rearend, and the calipers were clocked to use the stock ebrake system with some mods. He narrowed it to 48 inches. I had to notch and box the frame to accommodate the travel of the rearend (and the calipers). I actually had a small dent in the frame caused by the rearend travel. It cut the boot on the ebrake section of the caliper and I had to install a new boot. It also almost compromised the brake line on the passenger side caliper. So cover all of your bases. I contacted Michael and he told me that I needed to modify the frame accordingly. I can post some pics if you want. You also may contact Michael for any advice. I had to cut and weld on the brand new, freshly painted frame and body and rearend. I had to disconnect the brake lines, remove the calipers, wheels. It would have been easier to remove the complete rearend and leaf springs. But I didn't know. It was worth it, though, the car is a beast.
