1968 Datsun Roadster 1600 (newby)

Post by Surfhog1969 »

Hello all,
Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself and my dad to the 311 site. Got a 1968 Roadster that I'm working on with my dad, and some of the friends who have been helpful in getting it back on the road.

Welcome. I see you are in Los Angeles. There are some fun runs posted here periodically that you are welcome to attend to meet owners, see cars etc.
Also the weekly car meets around , such as SuperCarSunday in Woodland Hills will have some Datsuns.
Hope you and your Dad can do some networking.☺

Hi, everyone!
Sorry for getting back so late to everyone. I'm new to this forum, so bare with me...I'm a newby.

We so you all know, my dad helped me get a Datsun Roadster late last year. We've been working on it from time to time to get it back on the road. But I'm also got school going on and my dad works a lot. So finding time lately to work on the car has been a bit difficult. We have been collecting parts and repairing and replacing old parts (rubber hoses, gas lines, etc...) to get the car to a good level of reliability. So to that effect, our main goal is to get the car in safe proper functioning order, and then drive it everywhere until the wheels fall off.

For now I'll leave you all with a picture of the first time I saw the car. Ill post some more pics of the car and what we are trying to accomplish.

Welcome, "she's go good bones" ! Sounds like you and Dad have a great starting point for a rolling resto, and I like the "drive the hell out of it" approach, we need more on the road (my own included!)
Each have their own personality, often because of a unique approach by the Previous Owner. (like why did the guy put the antenna in exactly the the most inconvenient place for worng on the brake master.... this is a 68, so never had a hole there for fender mirrors... hmmm ?)
Let us know what parts you are looking for, we have most all squirreled away somewhere, except for parts that critter peeking in under the front bumper.
