Hi to all in the 311s forum. I have already got some good information from the members, toward repairing, upgrading & restoring my roadster. I am the original owner of SRL311-08559, purchased in Baldwin Park CA ( my boyhood hangout ) on August 10, 1969. I needed a freeway-worthy car to manage stop/n/go on the I-5, as my '60 Falcon had no synchro on the 1st gear. I will try and stick a photo on the profile, if I can figure out how ( my browser will not let me see pix that members have posted ). Except where direct replacement parts were unavailable ( magnetic fan coupler ), the roadster is 99% original ( squeezed in an am/fm/cassette radio -- the original AM is in a box in my shop ). Since the car has always been garaged, it is on it's 2nd replacement soft-top, which is still in good shape. I bought a Royal Coachman ( El Monte CA ) some time in the 70's, bit it reverberated something awful on rough mountain roads, so it is now consigned ( along with other large & unused objects ) to the property "boneyard,"
About 3 years ago, when the water-pump finally blew up, I had placed the roadster in the # 4 spot on my Project Bucket List. When it became apparent that replacement parts were getting very hard to get, I elevated it to the # 2 spot ( now #1, as original # 1; raising a spirited puppy to adulthood has been accomplished). Until he WP failed, the only true repairs needed were fixing a "frozen" heater valve & replacing the under-seat webbing with a suitable elastic replacement. Currently underway, is the ""upgrade" to de-smog & re-tune the guy with a Gary Boone EI Dizzy. Future restoration items are 1. Ding-out a couple of dents in the RF fender, 2. re-chrome the side & rear chrome fittings ( front bumper & O'riders are new, still in original paper ), 3. New paint job ( still in it's original white ) & 4. New upholstery ( hopefully red ).
