Thanks to responders willing to test fit.

Via PM, I have arranged a trial fitment with the ideal person. He has experience on numerous resto projects, has a low windshield project car, I have worked with him on an engineering project before, and I trust that he will give an excellent analytical evaluation. So I'm good to go.


I should be getting the first two prototypes next week sometime. After trial fitment and (hopefully approval) I will be able to increase my purchase order to get everyone covered who requested hoses. I already have demand that exceeds my 30 piece order so we probably have a few more weeks until I total everything up and change the PO.

Update - The prototypes are completed and shipped. They should be in my hands late tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon. I should be able to get a pretty good idea of how they did compared to my CAD model on Thursday. I'll give some preliminary feed back to you all ASAP. Assuming all looks good, I should be shipping the second sample out for trial fit on Friday. At least that's the plan.

Update 11/1/2018 8:30 EST

I mailed off prototype #1 to 3rd party for trial fit and evaluation. It should arrive Monday'ish.

Meanwhile - I installed Prototype #2 on my 66.

The fit in the grommet feels good and snug but generally easy to install without a bunch of goop.

The fit on the spigot feels snug but easy to get on and the clamp draws tight as it should

The general geometry seems to be correct. It clears the throttle stuff, the top heater core hose, and the water valve cable. I seems to lay nice in the area where the tube clip is and the pinch weld bulge appears to be in the correct place. I cant tell for sure because my car no longer has a clip and the pinch welds have been removed and smoothed out.

The tube dumps out the bottom behind and slightly below the clutch slave cylinder and below the floorboards.


I'm feeling pretty confident now. Let's see what the 3rd party test fit looks like.

I'm pretty confident were going to bring this home. It certainly appears that I will be able to order whatever quantity I need to cover demand. So, with that I'll need your commitment and some shipping details so that I can begin to build up a file for Papal and shipping costs. If you would be so kind, I will need the following information in a PM to me.

My thought is to use USPS Flat rate or Regional Rate boxes where possible. I can calculate flat Regional Rate shipping based on your Zip Code. Once I get the final total demand figured, I'll revise the PO with the suppier and recalculate the price - I'm already over demand for 30 pieces so the tooling amortization is getting very reasonable now. There have been some minor development costs. I want to get Richard whole on his cost to ship the OEM hose to me for measurement & I want the get whole on my cost to ship a prototype from PA to OR for evaluation. Your cost will end up being Piece Cost + Amortized Tooling Cost + USPS cost + Prorated Development Cost + 2.9% Paypal Fee + $.30 Paypal transaction Fee. I'm thinking we will be well under $50 to your door when this all shakes out.

When I'm done, you will each get a Paypal request for your order, and I'll box it up and get it out. The only caveat is that I'm heading to Chile in mid February for 2 weeks. I'm hopeful we can get all of this wrapped up before then, but if it spills over that could put a kink in the shipments.

I will handle international customers on an individial basis. I know Richard is in the Netherlands and I have at least one other gent in Canada to figure out.


So, Start sending me you PM orders and I'll build this thing up and try not to screw up this side of it too bad. I will have to make a firm cut-off on orders after I revise my PO so get them in now. But, as I've said before, if you miss this, I will make sure the tooling ends up in the hands of a viable long term vendor for future availability. The price may not be the same, but the new vendor needs to make a buck. I just want to get whole. I'm used to designing and manufacturing things, not selling & distribution so be gentle please.

PM sent Steve. I just caught this as I was scrolling thru this site. I’m restoring a 69 now. I’m thankful I didn’t miss this. Chalk me up for two. Once I’m done with this 69., I’ll be looking to obtain a 67.5. So having an extra hose will be for that future endeavor. . Thanks for doing this.

I don't think this will work on your 69. Dean has the late model, and other vendors may as well.

The third party tester has one of the prototypes in his hands now. He is going to try to get me some feedback this week. Meanwhile I am busy building up the customer order file. As of now we will definitely be below $50 delivered to your door via USPS for domestic US customers. I'm thinking that I'll continue to take orders through Sunday 11/11/2018 then do a cutoff so that I can place my purchase order with the supplier on Monday 11/12/2018. Most of the original responders have placed their orders, I PM'd those that did not so, that they don't miss the opportunity. If you know anybody else that needs one please let them know and I'll get them taken care of.


At this point I have no idea what the delivery schedule will be. My understanding is that since there is only one piece of tooling, the hoses are wrapped and vulcanized on the tool, one at a time. That suggests to me that production rate will only be a few hoses per day. So, it may take a while to fulfill my purchase order. Perhaps I'll have them short-ship, half of the order early, so that I can start filling your orders sooner as opposed to later.


When I'm ready to ship, you will receive a Paypal invoice in your paypal e-mail. In theory, you should be able to click the invoice to make a Paypal payment. That being said, some of Paypal's invoicing stuff didn't work too swift when I tested it today.
