Bad motor mounts?

When i start the engine it rotates to where it knocks against the engine bay. Also when i turn it off. Im guessing its bad motor mounts? Im getting ready to get under the car and look for the first time. Is it safe to just unbolt the motor mounts and just jack the engine up to get them out?

Yes, you can jack the motor up a bit to remove and replace the motor mounts. It should not take much.

Just did it a couple weeks ago, both were torn off. Typically not hard to do but space is limited. Lining up the holes takes patience.

You will have to buy them from one of our vendors. AutoZone will not have them nor will any other chain.

Here is an old picture from 2009 where I addressed the issue of my engine / driving behavior ripping motor mounts apart. I added chain limiters.

Good idea spyder. Found out the sound was actually coming from the exhaust banging on the frame because the bracket is broke in the rear. Not sure how much sway the engine is suppose to have.

I would add a flex fitting to mitigate exhaust line problems.
