Hood Latch ?'s

I recently had my hood latch mechanism powdercoated. When I got it back it was stuck. So I took it back and they fixed it. It seems to actuate fine now, but my hood won't latch.

I've played with it a bit, and it is a little notchy, like there is maybe a little sand inside. I'm guessing this is from the sandblasting. I also had them do my oil pan, and that was a real pain gettiing all the media out from behind the baffles.

Anyhow, I'm wondering how yours actuates? Here's how mine seems to work now. When the hood plunger goes through the hole, the end of the part that the cable attaches to barely moves, instead the end towards the rear of the car moves. The problem is that it doesn't freely move back. I assume that it is supposed to move back freely, but wanted to check if I have it right.

Sorry if this is hard to understand, just close your eyes and read it again. Okay, really if you take a look at yours, hopefully what I've asked will make some sense. My hood latch is basically the last thing that's stopping me from driving my car, and I'd love to get some road time in before the rains.

Thanks,

Hey Joe,

It has been a long time since I have looked at a high windshield hood release, but I think you are on the right track. Make sure it moves freely on the bench and has a bit of grease on the pivots. A little bit of massaging should work the paint out of the pivots and it will start working...TR
