So, 2 weeks ago I had the engine running pretty good, went to start it and the rear carb started puking out the over flow, followed by the front carb puking as well. I went to clean the needle and seat thinking that a bit of dirt got in there, and low and behold, both floats were sunk full of gas. So, new floats and gaskets will get ordered soon. Also, cleaned and lubed the throttle shaft and replaced all the fuel lines and a fresh filter as well. Good news is that start right up with no effort.

Also, spent about 5 hours removing the drivers side fender, that was fun....... don't know how many bolts I had to drill out, found the first bit of rusty rot where the bottom fender meets the rocker panel, I'm sure the passenger side is going to be as bad or worse, going to need some advise on how to repair it. I have a welder, but afraid of blowing through the thin metal.

While I have the fender off, I'm thinking I should coat/paint under the frame area under the fender. What do you advise.

To add pics, click Full editor, attatchments, add files.

Clean it up well, remove as much of the spotty undercoating as you can, treat it with some rust converter/sealer (I like Sems Rust Seal, many options but this does not have to be painted over unlike some others), undercoat and done!

Well, that didn't go as planned.

So, why can't I add pictures, I've tried the "Post Repy Full Editor", "Attachments", "Add" and I get an error everytime. Hit preview, and they aren't there.

I want to show you the trouble I'm in. But can't, please let me know what I have to do.

I get an error too if the image is too big. Not sure what the size limit is exactly. I know the native resolution coming from my phone creates images that are too big.

It seems that the limit is 2 mb for me. Under that no problem.

/Begin rant. There's no reason to be sending hurking huge pictures unless you're printing posters. It's also poor internet/email ettiquette. Most smartphones offer to resize the pics before you send them by email or text, but too many users ignore or disable that, so their recipients get these awful large file sizes, which take a bit to render. Years ago, this nonsense wasn't possible due to data restrictions.

For posting in forums, one option is to host the pics (PhotoBucket, Shutterfly, Imgur, etc), then include the URL to the pic in your post.

For posting in 311s.org, you can do that, or resize your pics before attaching. There are many choices for Windows users. My favorite for years has been Image Resizer:

On Android phones, Image Shrink Lite works pretty well, easy to figure out. It just makes the picture smaller to post.

Bob, I agree with Greg, except let me add that you should CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN before going to the SEM. Now, be forewarned that you are getting into dangerous territory here. I was in the same place with my roadster in February of 2015. It wasn't until Nov of 2016, that I turned the corner and could say that I was actually getting closer to being done instead of further away every
time that I worked on it. This is what it looked like last November. It is currently in 2K high build primer, and despite a lot of hours sanding and recoating here and there it doesn't look much different now. Hopefully I will be able to hit it hard this fall and be on the road next spring.

Thus, I'll clean up, treat it with rust converter and paint it.

Do you see anything else I should address while I have the fender off. Or any better ideas.

How hard was it to get the fenders off? Im suspicious of what mine is hiding down there behind the fenders

2mAn, I'm still undecided about the top, the more I look at it the more I kind of like it. Although, I know I'll never drive the car purposely in the rain so don't really need it.

As far as the fender goes, I'm dreading taking off the other side, I had to drill out half or so of the screws, but now that it's done and looking back it wasn't so hard.

I got the patch repaired, cleaned and painted the inner fender area. Just like this http://www.mydatsunroadster.com/2006/07 ... h-welding/ Thanks ppeters. Installed the new fender........... which doesn't seem to have much adjustment for alignment, front to rear looks good, but now the gap between the hood and fender is too wide, I think I can adjust the hood to make it look better, but don't see how the fender can move in any more than it is now.

I have the engine running pretty good, all the fuel lines have been replaced. However, when I first start it, it runs great idles around 700-800, but as it warms up the idle speeds up to around 1500 rpm, so, I'll have to figure that out, I have the throttle shaft and all the linkage clean, lubricated, and moving freely.

Next week, I'll replace the belt and all the hoses as one of the small bypass hoses formed a leak, and I'll order the clutch and brake master cylinders and work on the hydraulics. Who know, maybe I'll be able to drive it around the block in the next couple weeks.
